1. Acceptance

By accessing or using Judy ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service. The Service is provided by Hire Judy, Inc. ("we," "us," or "our").

2. Description of service

Judy is an AI-powered bookkeeping assistant for single-member LLCs and sole proprietors. The Service connects to your financial institution via Plaid to retrieve transaction data, categorizes transactions using automated and AI-assisted methods, and delivers financial summaries and reports through messaging platforms including Telegram, Slack, and WhatsApp.

Not a licensed accounting service. Judy is a software tool, not a licensed accountant, CPA, or tax advisor. The Service does not constitute accounting, tax, legal, or financial advice. You remain solely responsible for the accuracy of your financial records and the preparation of any tax filings. We recommend consulting a licensed professional for advice specific to your situation.

3. Eligibility

The Service is intended for use by business entities and individuals operating in the United States. You must be at least 18 years old and have the authority to enter into these Terms on behalf of yourself or your business.

4. Subscription and billing

Access to the Service requires a paid subscription. Subscriptions are offered on monthly ($29/month) and annual ($249/year) billing cycles. All prices are in USD.

Billing. You authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis for the applicable subscription fee. Billing is handled by Stripe, Inc. You may update your payment method at any time through the customer portal.

Cancellation. You may cancel your subscription at any time through the customer portal accessible via the /billing command in your messaging channel. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You retain full access to the Service until that date. We do not provide partial refunds for unused time within a billing period.

Free audit. New users receive a complimentary 30-day transaction audit upon connecting their bank account. This free audit does not require a subscription and does not obligate you to subscribe.

5. Your responsibilities

  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your messaging account (Telegram, Slack, or WhatsApp).
  • You are responsible for reviewing and verifying all transaction categorizations before relying on them for tax purposes.
  • You agree to use the Service only for lawful business purposes.
  • You agree not to attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or abuse the Service.

6. Third-party services

The Service integrates with Plaid (bank connectivity), Stripe (payments), and Anthropic (AI). Your use of these integrations is subject to each provider's terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the availability or conduct of third-party services.

7. Data and intellectual property

You retain ownership of your financial data. You grant us a limited license to process your data solely to provide the Service. We do not use your financial data to train AI models or for any purpose other than delivering the Service to you. We retain ownership of the Service, including all software, algorithms, and generated reports.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT TRANSACTION CATEGORIZATIONS WILL BE ACCURATE IN ALL CASES. YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE IS AT YOUR SOLE RISK.

9. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, HIRE JUDY, INC. SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO TAX PENALTIES, INACCURATE FINANCIAL RECORDS, OR LOSS OF DATA. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID TO US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

10. Changes to terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via your messaging channel. Continued use of the Service after such notice constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict of law principles.
